Additional Information
All of the Event personnel will move to Lexington over the weekend, so if you have not already mailed your information, please hold it to bring to the Show Office. We will not pick up mail after Sat. The Show Office phone 859-254-3343 will be staffed infrequently through Tue, and then full time after that. We have email access at the hotel, so messages will be answered each evening.

XC Schooling
We will offer XC Schooling on Sunday, Oct 21, from 2P-5P for our riders and also for non-competitors, weather and footing conditions permitting. Riders should come to the Show Office to sign a release and pick up a schooling pinney. Cost will be $20 for those entered in the event, and $30 for others. We will not be able to accommodate early checkin due to the constraints of the event. If the weather is questionable, please call the office at 859-254-3343 to confirm.

We are so pleased to announce that the Midsouth Three Day Event and Team Challenge has received its first major corporate sponsorship. Long a leader in thoroughbred veterinary services, the renowned Haygard Equine Medical Institute has chosen this event for a 3-year commitment to spearhead its interest in developing a strong presence in sport horse medicine.

Located directly opposite the Kentucky Horse Park, Haygard Equine Medical Institute will play a major role in the continued success of the event. Now known as Hagyard's Midsouth Three Day Event and Team Challenge, the event will continue as a major fundraiser for the Midsouth Eventing and Dressage Association (MSEDA).

Opening Dates and Divisions for Entries 2007

The 3Day opens Aug 21 and closes Sep 18.
The HT opens Sep 4 and closes Oct 2.
HT entries are accepted for Team competition in ON, OT and OP.
The 3Day divisions are as follows:
CCI-J* Open to all Junior riders (born 1989 or later)
CCI* Open to all US Amateur Riders born before 1989 and ALL Young Riders born 1986-1988
CCI*-Open Open to all other riders [US non-Am riders and others born before 1989]
All US Area Young Riders should indicate their Team Name for the one-star competition.
Fees Due for Entries 2007 Please verify the total amount due on your entry before you mail it to the secretary. The computerized entries we have received have had incorrect totals, especially as regards stabling and grounds fee. There is no "haul-in" fee for this event, and the grounds fee applies only to non-competition horses.

New for 2007

We are very pleased to announce that the 2007 Hagyard Midsouth Three Day Event will host the inaugural USEF Junior Young Riders National CCI1* Team Championships. The addition of this team championship will allow USEA Area JR/YR Programs to field teams to compete at an FEI Team Competition, now that the CIC* will no longer be part of the NAJYRC. The basic criteria for this championship is the horses and riders must be qualified to compete in a CCI* according to the FEI Rules for Eventing, 22nd Edition, effective January 2006, Article 506. The FEI rules may be found on their website linked at the bottom of the page. The riders must be 14-21 years of age, born between January 1, 1986 and December 31, 1993. The riders must be US citizens, current members in good standing (from the date of entry through the end of the Team Championship) of the USEA and USEF, have a current FEI registration and be a current member in good standing of the Area Young Rider program for 2007 for the Area they will be representing at the championships. All team horses must have either a National or FEI Passport. More information should be available from the USEA Area Young Rider Program Coordinators.

Equally exciting, the Chronicle of the Horse Central Adult Team Challenge will now be held at the 2007 Hagyard Midsouth Team Challenge Horse Trials. Because of the changes made to the 2007 KY Classic Horse Trials, the USEA Adult Rider Committee Chairman, Patte Clement and Competition Organizer, Mary Fike, discussed the logistics and both were positive that the Adult Team Challenge would work well there and will provide the Adult Riders a great competition.

And, to add a new twist to the weekend, the First Annual CanAm Sport Horse Classic Showcase Sale & Futurity will be a part of the weekend. Deb King, Futurity Chairman, has been working closely with the organizing committee of the Hagyard MidSouth competition to seamlessly blend both into a fun and educational weekend. Top quality Canadian sport horse weanlings will be shown, offered for sale & eligible to compete in-hand at the CanAm Sport Horse Classic Futurity with a Purse of $3500.00. Free demonstrations and educational seminars will be offered throughout the weekend and should be of interest to anyone considering buying a young prospect, as well as all horse lovers in general.

The team competition at the Mid-South 3Day and Team Challenge HT in October is conducted in the following manner. Each of the team members, either 3 or 4 riders, will ride dressage at the same time in adjacent rings (which comprise the individual divisions), and then will jump both XC and show jumping in consecutive order. So, no team may have a rider on two or more horses. If teams have been submitted with a rider on multiple horses, the extra rides will be placed in the list of individual entries. Riders may contact the secretary to indicate which ride should be the first team horse. We will schedule the teams that entered on Opening Date first, and then add teams and individual entries as we have room. All riders will be placed either on short teams of 3, or on composite teams that we assemble. All riders will receive acceptance letters after the Draw Date. If a team member must be replaced, the secretary will backfill the vacancy from the waitlist unless the team indicates otherwise. Teams which drop below three members after the Close Date (or before if we have exhausted our waitlist) will cease to exist as a team, but the remaining riders will still compete as individuals. Substitutions at the same level of either horse or rider, but not both, will be accepted if qualified for that level. Please understand that these policies are in place to treat the waitlisted riders fairly. Team scores are determined by adding together the lowest three scores from the team riders. All teams are encouraged to join in the fun of cross-country day by wearing safe, appropriate costumes!

All riders should check their ride times upon arrival to confirm that no schedule changes have been made. CCI* riders will receive their XC ride times after the First Horse Inspection. Dressage times for the CCI* may be compressed on each day if the schedule warrants. No CCI* rider will have his dressage day changed.

Attention: Competitors!

Many of our spectators are new to the sport of Eventing, and we want them to know you as more than just a number.
Is your horse an off-the-track-Thoroughbred? Is this your first or your horse’s first event? Is this a new horse, or perhaps your first Training Level event together? Maybe it is your birthday, or you are really proud of something you and your horse have accomplished this year. We want to know about your profession, your school/college, spouse/children, etc.
Please email some background information to our announcer Cyndi Kurth with Subject Line “Rider Bio-(add name of event entered)”. Please complete these no later than Tue, Oct 16. This info will not be shared with anyone else!
