Mayfest Training Level Three Day Update

Mayfest Training Level Three Day Update
Posted by Mary on Mon 24 Jan, 2005
Regretfully we must announce that the Educational Training Three Day Event will not be held at Mayfest Horse Trials this year, 2005. After meeting with the Kentucky Horse Park staff and looking at the very tight schedule for the park's spring of 2005, it became apparent that the logistics of hosting the Training Three Day were too difficult to overcome at this time. Areas of the park that have we have used in the past will be unavailable this spring and the lead time needed for set up and preparation will be diminished.

We would like to extend our most heartfelt thanks to those who have made the Training Three Day the success it is. The coaches and professionals, the volunteers and the riders all were invaluable in making it happen.

Mayfest Horse Trials will continue as planned and we hope that the Training Three Day might again be part of the event in future.

We are very sad to hear this news. The Educational Training 3-Day has become part of our yearly schedule- and is everyone at our barns 1st real goal when we have new horses. We have had horses there the past 3 or 4 years, and have two more that were expecting to come! We are hoping that you are able to work it back into your schedule at some point in the future. Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to make this possible.

I'm also very sad to hear this news. Last year's T3D was a "pinnacle" for me and an experience for which I'm hugely grateful. I hope it can be "revived" in the future--any chance of running it with one of the other events at the KHP, like Champagne Run for instance? Even if I didn't ride in it this year, I would make every effort to help out one way or another. Thanks for the news--thanks for the venue in the past--hope it can become a "fixture" for Area 8 in the future! :)

I was hoping to do this with one of my horses this May. I am very sad to hear this as well. I think that the Training 3day was a wonderful addition to Area 8 and also to the southeast (area 2 and 3). I hope that these circumstances arent permanent.

Oh no! I read this and just wanted to cry. I have a friend who has been trying for the last year to qualify for this. She will be devestated. She groomed for me last year, as I was a participant in the clinic, and this year it was going to be my turn to groom for her. What a shame!! Like an above poster asked, is there any conceivable way that it could be run in conjuction with another horse trial?

So very sad.... Is it totally because of the KHP? Or is it just too labor intensive. If that is the case, what about each participant providing a volunteer in order to participate? It was the hightlight of my year 2 years ago, and finally had my guy ready for this year...its on the calendar and all plans are in that direction-how sad.... Please let us know if we can help in any way....

This news is devastating. For the past year I have worked to qualify and plan for this event. All my upcoming spring events and training schedule have revolved around this goal. I've also been running and working out 4-5 days a week to train (and I hate running). Like others, I hope that perhaps it could be included during another event. Let us know if there is anything we can do to continue this event.

I am devastated to hear of the loss of the T3D division at Mayfest! I have been to this event and seen how wonderful it is to the riders who finish it. I have heard nothing but positive comments about it and am hoping it will return! Just from the popularity, positive comments, and numbers of participants certainly proves that this was enjoyed by all.

How awful! What can we do to help put it back in the schedule?

I'm very sad to hear this news. The T3D was a goal I had set for myself and a new horse. I hope to see it on the 2006 schedule for the KHP.

I am so sorry to hear that you are unable to host the T3D this year. I did it last year and it taught me more than I could ever learn at any other horse show. You guys do a fantastic job with it. I know a lot of people plan their years around this event, is there anything we can do to bring it back?

So, is this the end of it? I'll check back to see if there is any "wiggle room" in this decision. It sounds like there may be people out there who would be willing to volunteer their time or a friend's time to help out. Perhaps fund raising to pay for "seasoned veterans" to help with the work? What about the question of running it in conjunction with another event during the year?

I just found out this weekend about the Training Three Day Event was not going to take place this year. Is there any chance whatsoever in this decision being overturned? If there is anyone that we can email, please let us know. There are so many of us who were so looking foward to this!

We are very disappointed that the Training 3-day will not be held as well. Many of us in Area III make the trip to KHP because of the wonderful venue, and those of us who qualified for the T3D were very disheartened to not have such a great learning experience available this year. Please let us know what it will take to host this again in the future. C. Cadier
