| Flu Vaccination Reqmts Changed for FEI Events | |
| Posted by Event Mgmt. on Fri 16 Sep, 2005 | |
The FEI has instituted more stringent equine influenza vaccination requirements for horses entered in FEI competitions for 2005. Horses will now need vaccinations every 6 months in order to compete. Switching to the more frequent vaccination schedule does not require a new initial series of shots. The rule change approved by the General Assembly 2004 states:
"The FEI requirement for equine influenza vaccination will be for booster vaccinations at 6-month intervals as from 1 January 2005."
Implementation of sanctions will be on a gradual basis. Complete details are available on the FEI website. Click on the FEI link at the bottom of this page, then click Eventing and then the Jan 14, 2005 article regarding this topic for the rationale and implementation plans for the rule change. |
