New Rules for Concussed Riders!
Effective April 1, 2009, the new Return to Play rule is in effect. This rule (GR 1317) mandates that any competitor at a USEF licensed competition who is deemed concussed or unconscious (by qualified medical personnel) cannot return to competition until he/she has been cleared by a medical professional. The rider must submit a letter to the USEF signed by a medical professional attesting that the rider is fit to compete (able to return to all normal activities). It is the responsibility of the rider to notify any events in which he/she is entered should this circumstance arise.
