USEF Extraordinary Rule Changes
Posted by Event Mgmt. on Tue 03 Jun, 2008
Attention: All Active Competitors!

The USEF in conjunction with the USEA has passed several Rule Changes which are effective immediately. These changes are made to address continued concerns for the safety of horse and rider on cross-country.
The most notable changes involve fall of rider. The competitor will be Eliminated for a Fall of Rider while negotiating a fence. Riders will face Mandatory Retirement in the event of Fall of Horse as before.

In addition, the implications for the rider who must be examined by medical personnel have been expanded and clarified. In some cases, the rider may not be allowed to continue on any horse entered with that rider.

Requirements for the use of frangible pins in the construction of some XC obstacles have been included as well. Additional rule changes regarding safety standards may be forthcoming later this year.

You may read the entire list of changes online on the USEA website.
