Posted by Event Mgmt. on Thu 14 Aug, 2008
Attention: Riders in FEI Competitions!

It has come to our attention that a new FEI rule for Show Jumping will apply for any rider in an FEI competition. This rule involves the allowable weight for each front or hind protective boot. The rule is stated below, and may be enforced. We recommend that you personally check your equipment before arriving on the show grounds.

FEI Art. 257.2.3 [SJ]:

The maximum weight allowed for a horse's boot, front or hind, is 500g. Failure to comply with this paragraph will incur disqualification (as per Art. 241.2.9).

Kentucky Classique Still Accepting Entries
Posted by Event Mgmt. on Fri 01 Aug, 2008
Make us your last stop before the AECs!

Kentucky Classique 2008 will be back at its usual venue at the Kentucky Horse Park, and will offer CIC**, CIC*, BN through Interm. Horse Trials, and Combined Tests at every level from BN to Advanced, using the same tests that will be ridden at the American Eventing Championships.

There will also be XC Schooling available on Sunday following the competition. The charge will be $30/horse. Check in at the Show Office to get a schooling pinney.

We are also delighted to announce that the Kentucky Horse Park has made extended stay stabling available to us so that we can offer layovers for riders who want to travel directly on to the AECs.

We still have plenty of room, since we have scheduled time for everyone. We hope to see you there!

Rider Requirements for FEI Levels
Posted by Event Mgmt. on Fri 25 Jul, 2008
Attention: CIC/CCI Riders
Any rider who plans to compete at an FEI level in 2008 must meet more stringent requirements than in the past. Both Horse and Rider must satisfy all qualifying requirements for the level, as well as have current 2008 FEI registration numbers for both. The USEF document on Qualifiers is linked on the Show Reqmts page on the left sidebar. In addition, every horse must have a passport to compete at any FEI level, including the lower level CCI and CIC levels. This means that your horse should have an FEI Passport, good for all levels, or, for the One Star and Two Star levels only, the horse may have a National Passport. Horses who plan to compete at any level of FEI event outside their own country must have the FEI passport as before. For US riders, the USEF has a straightforward process in place to acquire these passports. Plan ahead to allow enough time for processing these requests.

For riders planning to compete in the CICs or CCI at our fall events, please also include stabling fees. All horses in these events must be stabled on-grounds for the duration of the event. Additional horses ridden by the FEI competitor will be stabled with the FEI horse. The FEI barns will not be closed to other riders or the public. All horses must arrive early enough to allow time for the Arrival Exam and passport check by the vets (Thur, Sep 4 for Kentucky Classique).

Refer to FEI Rulebook Article 518 for a discussion of the Vet Exams at these events. Section 518.2.3 will apply for Kentucky Classique. There will be two exams, the first upon Arrival and the second following cross-country. There will be no formal jog.

KHP Campground Fees will increase Aug 1!
Posted by Event Mgmt. on Thu 17 Jul, 2008
Attention: Campers

The following notice was just received from the State of Kentucky regarding an increase in Reservation fees for State Parks. Reservations may be made up to a year in advance, and the fee will go into affect on bookings made August 1 or later.
You may want to consider booking your camping spots earlier than planned!

[text of msg follows:]

Camping throughout our State parks has remained a favorite past time for generations. We hope that you will find the campgrounds as well as attention to your needs, to be to your full satisfaction.
Over the course of time the costs associated with operating our campgrounds as well as other facilities in the State Park System has steadily increased. While we have made every attempt to absorb these operational costs in our budget, we have reached a point where some expenses unfortunately must be passed along to our campers.
We wish to inform you that beginning with all campground reservations made as of August 1st, 2008, the $7.50 reservation fee charged to Parks will be passed along to our campers. Per night campsite fees will remain the same. This will not affect reservations made prior to August 1st, nor will first come/first serve camping be affected. Up until now, Kentucky was one of only a handful of states still absorbing this fee. We regret the increased costs to you the consumer, however we trust that you find camping at our Parks still serves as a great value. Thank you for your patronage and we look forward to accommodating your needs in the future.
Should you have any questions please contact the Director of Customer Service Sam Devine.

USEF Extraordinary Rule Changes
Posted by Event Mgmt. on Tue 03 Jun, 2008
Attention: All Active Competitors!

The USEF in conjunction with the USEA has passed several Rule Changes which are effective immediately. These changes are made to address continued concerns for the safety of horse and rider on cross-country.
The most notable changes involve fall of rider. The competitor will be Eliminated for a Fall of Rider while negotiating a fence. Riders will face Mandatory Retirement in the event of Fall of Horse as before.

In addition, the implications for the rider who must be examined by medical personnel have been expanded and clarified. In some cases, the rider may not be allowed to continue on any horse entered with that rider.

Requirements for the use of frangible pins in the construction of some XC obstacles have been included as well. Additional rule changes regarding safety standards may be forthcoming later this year.

You may read the entire list of changes online on the USEA website.
